    The Old Era

100% spot on. The remastering of Decades was genuinely some of the best remaster work I’ve ever seen, and I think every NW album would benefit from it (maybe another Lokikkirja wouldn’t be such a bad idea ) I have a sneaking feeling the band itself wasn’t the catalyst behind this happening; Tuomas said the rerelease of EoaE was completely the decision of the label, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing was true here.
  3. You opened ask nightwish this year, so thats why i tagged you. Woah, slow down a bit.
  4. Yeah hi I wanna make something clear once and for all- Mojo quit his admin job a few years ago. I quit last year. We have nothing to do with the website anymore. Carol is the admin. Please dont accuse ex-Staff of something we're not involved with - neither mojo nor I can help you. This is all Carol, take up any issues you have with her specifically.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

I think when you are an international artist you eventually just accept that some people are going to mispronounce your name, either because of accent or spelling. but yeah I winced when he said her name. There are so many videos of Tarja saying her name on youtube, you would think interviewers could do 5 minutes of research and at least try to say it right...
  6. I'm not sure Troy has heard the last song. I thought he meant the new epic which will probably be the last one on the album.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

She's given up. Although I'm sure she still winces on the inside...

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

It is funny how she even stopped correcting journalists who mispronounce her name.

    Beast In Black

I liked a lot Berserker, the first album of Beast in Black, and am now excited about their upcoming album From Hell with Love. I have already preordered it. Anton Kabanen´s first band was Battle Beast, from which the other band mates kicked him out. They behaved like crooks when stealing for their own use the band name, which belonged to all the six band members. Anton could not demand compensation from his ex-band mates because the band name had not been registered. Anton was devastated but fortunately soon recovered, continued to write new songs and founded a new band Beast in Black, for which he was lucky enough to find more cooperative and technically better players and a better singer he had in Battle Beast. The vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos is a gem. Rare singers are so versatile as Yannis; his voice can vary from soft and gentle to screams and roars. In addition, Yannis´s vocal range is over four octaves ranging from E2 to A#6 whistle notes. I asked Yannis about his vocal range after the Hartwall Arena gig on 15 December 2018, and he was kind enough to write it down for me on a piece of paper. After the gig all Beast in Black members came near to their merchandise desk for signing their albums and other products, photos and answering questions. Beast in Black warmed up for Nightwish during their European tour leg in late autumn 2018. During this tour the Beast in Black guys got a chance to play in really big venues. This served as valuable promotion for them, when tens of thousands of people saw them for the first time. So, Beast in Black has all the reason to thank Tuomas Holopainen and Nightwish for taking them on the European tour leg. Actually, Beast in Black have thanked Nightwish for treating them so well. Nightwish, Beast in Black and Sonata Arctica share the same management company, viz. Till Dawn They Count owned by Toni Peiju and Ewo Pohjola, but the management company cannot choose the warm-up band(s) for Nightwish against Holopainen´s will. It was fun watching the Beast in Black gig at Hartwall. The Beasts could not afford screens and pyros, but it did not matter. I wondered how Yannis could sing so well in spite of moving a lot on the stage. He also made some high jumps; his thigh and leg muscles have to be in good shape. The band also had some choreography. The bass and guitar players wore special goggles with words during Crazy, Mad, Insane (what an excellent live song!) and often formed groups of two or three to move in unison while playing. It was also noteworthy how near the band members often went to each other on the stage. In my eyes this kind of body language strengthens Anton´s words when he tells about the excellent relationship between the band members.
  10. I enjoyed reading that. I'm part of that FB group too and really was impressed at Daniel putting that together so quickly. Some good answers in there - even though I was upset we didn't get to hear who the "morning" and "evening" people were. Also - I really really really cannot wait for next album now. Last song is pretty good, hm? One last thing - really impressed that Floor does pretty much all her own makeup!!!
  11. Facebook group called Nightwish - World Community organised interview with the band a week ago with question from fans, and now the interview is here http://www.danielarenson.com/Nightwish.html Enjoy. P.S: Too bad that this forum organised Ask Nightwish 6 MONTHS ago and still nothing. Shame on us. @Carol@mojo @WhiteRaven

    Delain

Took me a few spins to "get" this, but eventually I ended up liking it. Too many times Delain has played with rather predictable song structures and their songs can be rather repetitive. But now this song has more of those twists and turns which make a song more interesting. I hope the upcoming album has more of this style in it.

    Poepmonsters Pub

Take a quick flight to Finland this Thursday: This is only the first twelve hours snow-forecast from Finnish Meteorological Institutes Twitter from Wednesday-evening to Thursday-morning. Amounts of more than 20 cm are to be expected in most of Southern Finland. Not quite 1.11 2006, which was the worst blizzard I can recall (we had up to half a meters of snow in one night), but I'm guessing a messy day for traffic, our trains will be late for sure and plow-operators will have a long day at work.

    The Old Era

Oh yeah I remember that. What a shame actually. Instrumental would have been cool! Couldn't agree more ❤️ That's what I was also wondering 🤔 Are these re-releases remastered in any way? I think both Once and Dark Passion Play would benefit greatly from that and I might even consider buying them again myself. But if not I think I'll skip. On Decades those songs sounded heavenly!

    The Old Era

They shouldn't be allowed to re-release anything anymore without remastering the tracks to the Decades standard.
  16. Imagineer

    Cover songs

Fleetwood Mac with Neil Finn covering his Crowded House song "Dont Dream It's Over". This is probably one of my favourite songs ever! And I really like this version with Stevie coming in at the end.
  17. Speckofdust

    Ayreon

Im not interested then.. Only new album Im looking for.
  18. Imagineer

    Ayreon

Probably no. The dvd for the live ITEC shows will probably come out in a year or so though.
  19. Speckofdust

    Ayreon

So is there gonna be new Ayreon album this year??
  20. Symphoniker

    The Old Era

WHAT? I mean...WHAT? DPP is their best selling album. You may not like it but it sold A LOT. And yeah, I still love it.
  21. Adrn_2810

    The Old Era

Yeah, I remember them wanting to release the instrumental version of the album as a bonus disc. They really hope they try again and settle this at some point (first and foremost because it is such a minor thing, and second, I really love their instrumentals)
  22. Damian

    The Old Era

No, there was some disagreement between both parties NW - Turunen/Cabuli. So they ended up uploading only a full instrumental version of GLS on Youtube as celebration of the 10th anniversary.

    The Marco thread

I thought they already were married. Congrats!
  24. Vattep

    The Old Era

I was wondering the same about MiHK but Once and Dark Passion Play are their two biggest selling albums so I guess that's what makes them big. And I actually personally prefer DPP to Once for the reasons I already stated in the confessions topic so it being re-released makes me quite happy. Wasn't Once already re-released a couple of years ago for it's 10th anniversary? It being included here feels the most unnecessary out of these three to me 🤔
  25. The_Black_Rose

    The Old Era

This rerelease is really peculiar... MiHK certainly doesn’t qualify as one of the band’s best or biggest releases; and DPP certainly isn’t really either. I don’t understand why they’re putting out random releases instead of a massive box set with everything in one go, like the Lokikkirja release a few years back.
  26. Slytherin

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

Agree, and I don't see a point of buying all of her albums just for some production experience
