Thanks a lot for this Carol! :) It's nice to finally be able to see what the actual lyrics are, though I admit guessing them was pretty fun. I'm impressed with how close we managed to get actually. :)

On the lyrics of TGSOE:

Now I understand “the cosmic law of gravity pulled the newborns around a fire”, the newborns are the planets, the fire is the sun.

About “enter Luca” :

The last universal ancestor (LUA), also called the last universal common ancestor (LUCA), cenancestor, or progenote, is the most recent organism from which all organisms now living of earth have common descent.

About Ratkind: http://iberianature.com/wildworld/tag/ratkind/

Is there anyone who has an idea about the meaning of “Not a single one of your fathers died young” ?

Also, “Enter the God of Gaps, deep within the past, atavistic dread of the hunted” puzzles me. The God of Gaps :   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_the_gaps

Atavistic: Atavism is the tendency to revert to ancestral type. In biology, an atavism is an evolutionary throwback.

Congrats to the lyrics guys :)

The lyrics are certainly something else, it's like an album of Oceanborns hahaha however I will never get over the condescending ape.

Well, we are Apes.

Man I knew Karyotype was wrong...

Still proud of Panthalasa Aye Aye and Tiiktalik though.

And Atavistic has been one of my favorite words since Steven Erickson's Malazan series got it stuck in my head. That Archeologist has one massive vocabulary.

I cannot honestly express how proud I am for the lyrics. I have nothing to complain about, I see no whining, no lost-innocence repetition. On the contrary, I see emotions that every person experiences when contemplates existence and human history: hope, fear, dread, awe, curiosity, personal experience, bravery to take a closer look at the stars and realize our insignificance.

I don't care how immature some people might think My Walden or Your Is An Empty Hope are, I think this is a mature album. It's not Dark Tranquility mature, but Nightwish never claimed to be that anyway.

Thanks for that explanation of "ratkind". That was one of the lines I found most puzzling.

As for "Enter God of Gaps", that is a bit puzzling. Perhaps since it follows "Gave birth to fantasy, to idolatry, to self-destructive weaponry" it's referring to worship and the theory of gods and the world being created by a being (not necessarily religion per se, since this is in a period of human history before any main ancient civilisations, before "the architecture of understanding", just the concept of some sort of being responsible for the creation/existence of the world - "Atavistic dread of the hunted" could refer to man's early primal fear at a time when we were prey as well as/before we became predators). Then again, this could all be just me interpreting it wrong. Either way, glad to have these lyrics finally filled in. :P

Not sure how finding your safe space could ever be immature. My Walden is one of the most adult songs Nightwish has ever done.(So agreed)

And I adore Yours is an Empty Hopes scathing rebuke of internet trolls everywhere. Even if it is the emotion they're going for. My issue is it feels like an incomplete thought. It never declares what that empty hope is. It needed a line about how it changes nothing or something along those lines.

Thanks for posting the lyrics, Carol.

Thanks a lot for this Carol! :) It's nice to finally be able to see what the actual lyrics are, though I admit guessing them was pretty fun. I'm impressed with how close we managed to get actually. :)

Indeed.  It was definitely a fun experience, and like you, I'm impressed with how well we did.

On the lyrics of TGSOE:

Is there anyone who has an idea about the meaning of “Not a single one of your fathers died young” ?

The idea is that if you were born, then all of your ancestors were able to survive long enough to reproduce.  Hence, "not a single one of your fathers died young."

A few notes:

Weak Fantasy: "Male necrocracy" definitely surprised me.  We weren't even close!

Our Decades In The Sun: "And gentle lead!"  We were so close.

My Walden: Nice to have the Welsh part, finally.  Also, I'm still convinced that she's saying "green booth concerto."

Endless Forms Most Beautiful: Great work with this one, Aminar.  Looks like "mother Eve" is indeed right -- your explanation for it makes sense, Yoshee.

Edema Ruh: We actually completely nailed this one!  Well, it should be "sirens" instead of "siren," but I'll let that pass.

The Greatest Show On Earth: NunoTenazinha did a great job with the operatic part.

Kudos to Yoshee for solving the mystery of the chorus.

"To self-destructive weaponry" -- wow, Hesterk nailed it.  Still sounds a bit weird to me, though.

As for the line "the will to do just as you'd be done by," is anyone else hearing "the will to do as you'd be done by"?  I'm not hearing the word "just."

Edit: The Google translation of the Welsh in "My Walden":

Sound and fog,

(Gaunt) the (goydwig) moss,

Granite, lichen trees, and the moon,

One (gway f'adenydd) tapestry of life

The lyrics of TGSOE might just be the best Holopainen ever put on paper. I am literally grinning. Good job ol' chap!

I'm kinda sad the lyric game is over - was great watching you all perfect them. Now it'll be years before there's another chance to play!

I was curious going in whether this would be an explicitly atheist album or even anti-religious, as some people feared. A believer wouldn't mention god of the gaps, but a non-believer wouldn't have an afterlife like 'Our Decades' -  "One day we'll meet on that shore again."

As to the god of the gaps verse - "Gave birth to fantasy/ to idolatry/ to self-destructive weaponry/ enter the god of the gaps / deep within the past/ atavistic dread of the hunted" - in this verse human evolution moves into culture with the creation of weapons and a god that explains mysterious things (eg what is that glowing ball in the sky? how did life come to be? must be god(s)!) The god of the gaps is a phrase used to describe how humans ascribe to a god/the supernatural what is currently not understood. And then as understanding progresses, there are fewer gaps in knowledge, so there are shrinking gaps for these gods to fill. Eventually many people believe in a non-interventionist god that doesn't explain anything, fills no gaps in knowledge, and so the argument goes, "if there isn't anything left to explain, why do you still believe?"

Not sure whether the atavistic dread is tied in - primal dread, fears, rules encoded into religion - or if it is a separate thing.

And then to contrast, the next verse is an Enlightenment one - "the cradle of thought/ the architecture of understanding." Though with increasing knowledge twined with greed and ambition, not entirely a celebration of knowledge!

I love the phrase "male necrocracy" but am not sure exactly what it refers to - established religion as a system formed around the ideas of long dead men, so in a way current believers are governed by dead men? It works well to describe that. I wondered if it could refer to worship of dead men, but it's explicitly about the ruling group, not the worshiped one.

So in conclusion I'm kinda categorizing 'Weak Fantasy' and 'Greatest Show' as kinda-sorta atheist, and 'Our Decades' as maybe-vaguely-spiritual-but-maybe-just-in-poetic-way, and everything else as wonderfully deeply humanist and Romantic and loving of the natural world and scientific knowledge.

My favorite Nightwish lyrics ever, but how are people of faith feeling about them?

I don't get an atheist vibe. Just a dismissal of religion used as a method of control over people.

It's about the exploitative(promoting ignorance and biggotry) structure many religious organizations have. Not religion itself.

As to God of the Gaps. That's one interpretation, but I like the clockwork god look at the same idea. A creator divised a brilliant system. And then observes. A more deist sentiment than Christian, but still far from atheist. After all, that's what Darwin felt evolution was. An insight into the methods of creation.

Just to clear something

Just felt the need to say that i'm reading The Greatest Show on earth, by Dawkins, and the book explain the phrase that says that darwin was a believer, because of the part of the whole text in wich he says "by the Creator"

And dawkins reveals that Darwin was NOT a believe, he was an atheist.
He just put "by the Creator" to avoid the problems with the media of that time.

Darwin was not the person that believes that evolution was started by a god.
It was just a misunderstanding .
who gained force with the time pass.

The Book explain beautifuly this case.

Im not preaching, I just needed to say this because I'm too excited with all this.

I compiled the lyrics in text form, as it's a bit easier for me to read this way.  I decided to share it in case anyone wanted to see them.

Shudder Before The Beautiful

"The deepest solace lies in understanding,
This ancient unseen stream,
A shudder before the beautiful"

Awake, oceanborn
Behold this force
Bring the outside in
Explode the self to epiphany

The very core of life
The soaring high of truth and light

The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers

Tales from the seas
Cathedral of green

The very core of life
The soaring high of truth and light

The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers

The unknown, the grand show, the choir of the stars
Interstellar theatre play, the nebulae curtain falls
Imagination, evolution, a species from the vale
Walks in wonder in search of the source of the tale

The music of this awe
Deep silence and the notes
Deafen me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers

The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers

The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers

Weak Fantasy

These stories given to us all
Are filled with sacrifice and robes of lust
Dissonant choirs and downcast eyes
Selfhood of a condescending ape

Behold the crown of a heavenly spy
Forged in blood of those who defy
Kiss the ring; praise and sing
He loves you dwelling in fear and sin

Fear is a choice you embrace

Your only truth
Tribal poetry
Witchcraft filling your void
Lust for fantasy
Male necrocracy
Every child worthy of a better tale

Pick your author from à la carte fantasy
Filled with suffering and slavery
You live only for the days to come
Shoveling trash of the upper caste

Smiling mouth in a rotting head
Sucking dry the teat of the scared
A storytelling breed we are
A starving crew with show-off toys

Fear is a choice you embrace

Your only truth
Tribal poetry
Witchcraft filling your void
Lust for fantasy
Male necrocracy
Every child worthy of a better tale

From words into war of the worlds
This one, we forsake with scorn
From lies, the strength of our love
Mother's milk laced with poison for this newborn

Wake up, child; I have a story to tell
Once upon a time

Your only truth
Tribal poetry
Witchcraft filling your void
Lust for fantasy
Fantasy
Male necrocracy
Every child worthy of a better tale

Élan

Leave the sleep and let the springtime talk
In tongues from the time before man
Listen to a daffodil tell her tale
Let the guest in, walk out; be the first to greet the morn

The meadows of heaven await harvest
The cliffs unjumped, cold waters untouched
The elsewhere creatures yet unseen
Finally your number came up; free fall awaits the brave

Come
Taste the wine
Race the blind
They will guide you from the light
Writing noughts till the end of time
Come
Surf the clouds
Race the dark
It feeds from the runs undone
Meet me where the cliff greets the sea

The answer to the riddle before your eyes
Is in dead leaves and fleeting skies
Returning swans and sedulous mice
Writings on the garden book, in the minute of a lover's look

Building a sandcastle close to the shore
A house of cards from a worn out deck
A home from the fellowship, poise and calm
Write a lyric for the song only you can understand

Come
Taste the wine
Race the blind
They will guide you from the light
Writing noughts till the end of time
Come
Surf the clouds
Race the dark
It feeds from the runs undone
Meet me where the cliff greets the sea

Riding hard every shooting star
Come to life, open mind; have a laugh at the orthodox
Come, drink deep; let the dam of mind seep
Travel with great élan; dance a jig at the funeral

Come
Taste the wine
Race the blind
They will guide you from the light
Writing noughts till the end of time
Come
Surf the clouds
Race the dark
It feeds from the runs undone
Meet me where the cliff greets the sea
Come!

Yours Is An Empty Hope

Tear me to bits; enjoy the scene
Of screen name verbal vanity
Churning the words imbued in filth
Your tongue, oily water under my bridge

You have the world; it's all for you
I wish you'd find the lost in you
Grateful for the pain; it proves we're alive
Can you feel it?

I can't make you want the truth
It's up to you
Yours is an empty hope
Yours is an empty hope

Feed me to pigs in your fantasies
Your sea roars bitter elegies
Like Narcissus, who bribes the pool
A hollow voice, ruin with a roof

Stop! Life is now, still all for you
Turn from the hate; turn from the smoke
I see the parchment of your soul
The notes, the song
Join your voice

I can let you have the world
It's all for you
Yours is an empty hope
Yours is an empty hope

Yours is an empty hope
Yours is a dying hope

I can let you have the world
It's all for you
Yours is an empty hope
Yours is an empty hope
Yours is an empty hope
Yours is an empty hope

Our Decades In The Sun

I climbed off your back
Not so long ago
To a blooming meadow
To a path you'd made for the lightest feet

Mother
I am always close to you
I will be waving every time you leave
Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
We are the story of one

Father
I am always close to you
I will be waving every time you leave
Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
You are forever in me

This verse we wrote
On a road home
For you, all this for you
All this for you

Our walk has been sublime
A soaring ride and gentle lead
You have the heart of a true friend
One day we'll meet on that shore again

Mother
I am always close to you
I will be waving every time you leave
Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
We are the story of one

Oh, father
I am always close to you
I will be waving every time you leave
Oh, I am you
The care, the love, the memories
You are forever in me

My Walden

Sain y niwl,
Gaunt y goydwig fwsog,
Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad,
Un gway f'adenydd i dapestri bywyd

(Sound the fog,
... the ... moss,
Granite, lichen trees, and the moon,
One ... ... tapestry of life)

Light shines bright beyond all the cities of gold
On a road of birdsong and chocolate shops
Of buskers, jugglers, innkeeper's welcoming call
The sound of mist, smell of moss-grown woods

Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher
Into the wild
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden
In my Walden

I will taste the manna in every tree
Liquid honey and wine from the distant hills
An early morning greenwood concerto
Greets my Walden with its eternal voice

Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher
Into the wild
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden
In my Walden

Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher
Into the wild
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden
In my Walden

Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher

I do not wish to evade the world
Yet I will forever build my own
Forever my own
Forever my home

Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Come on; hop on; let's take a ride
Come and meet the travelers who came to town
They have a tale from the past to tell
From the great dark between the stars

We are a special speck of dust
A fleeting moment on an ark
A celebration, a resthaven
Of life

Lay on a field of green
With mother Eve
With father Pine reaching high
Look at yourself in the eyes of aye-aye
Unfolding rendezvous

Deep into the past
Follow the aeon path
Greet a blade of grass
Every endless form most beautiful
Alive, aware, in awe
Before the grandeur of it all
Our floating pale blue ark
Of endless forms most beautiful

Beyond aeons we take a ride
Welcoming the shrew that survived
To see the Tiktaalik take her first walk
Witness the birth of flight

Deeper down in Panthalassa
A eukaryote finds her way
We return to the very first one
Greet the one we'll soon become

Lay on a field of green
With mother Eve
With father Pine reaching high
Look at yourself in the eyes of aye-aye
Unfolding rendezvous

Deep into the past
Follow the aeon path
Greet a blade of grass
Every endless form most beautiful
Alive, aware, in awe
Before the grandeur of it all
Our floating pale blue ark
Of endless forms most beautiful

Deep into the past
Follow the aeon path
Greet a blade of grass
Every endless form most beautiful
Alive, aware, in awe
Before the grandeur of it all
Our floating pale blue ark
Of endless forms most beautiful

Edema Ruh

One by one we light the candles of this show
One by one, enter the theatre of the primal birth
Silently watch the planetary curtain go down
Laugh and rejoice, as the powerful play greets you tonight

We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home

We'll give you a key to open all of the gates
We'll show you a sea of starlight to drown all your cares
Mirrorhouses, the sweetest kisses and wines
A Debussy dialogue between wind and the roaring sea

We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home

Dance to the whistle, to the play, to the story
To infinite encores
Laugh at the royalty with sad crowns
And repeat the chorus once more

We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home

We are the Edema Ruh
We know the songs the sirens sang
See us dream every tale true
The verse we leave with you will take you home

Alpenglow

Once upon a time a song was heard
Giving birth to a child of Earth and verse

Together we slay another fright
Every Jubjub bird, spooks of the past
Close your eyes and take a peek
The truth is easy to see

We were here
Roaming on the endless prairie
Writing an endless story
Building a Walden of our own
We were here
Grieving the saddened faces
Conquering the darkest places
Time to rest now and to finish the show
And become the music, one with alpenglow

Hand in hand, guiding me into light
You, the fairytale guise in blue and white

Together we slay another fright
Every Jubjub bird, spooks of the past
Close your eyes and take a peek
The truth is easy to see

We were here...
We were here
Roaming on the endless prairie
Writing an endless story
Building a Walden of our own
We were here
Grieving the saddened faces
Conquering the darkest places
Time to rest now and to finish the show
And become the music, one with alpenglow

You are my path, my home, my star
A beautiful tale within the tale
And when the dust needs to move on
I will tuck us in on a bed of snow
Painting white, silencing the valley we built
Together we'll sleep
Devoured by life

We were here
Roaming the endless prairie
Writing an endless story
Building a Walden of our own
We were here
Grieving the saddened faces
Conquering the darkest places
Time to rest now and to finish the show
And become the music, one with alpenglow

We were here
Roaming on the endless prairie
Writing an endless story
Building a Walden of our own
We were here
Grieving the saddened faces
Conquering the darkest places
Time to rest now and to finish the show
And become the music, one with alpenglow

The Greatest Show On Earth

1.) Four Point Six

Archaean horizon

The first sunrise
On a pristine Gaea
Opus perfectum
Somewhere there, us sleeping

2.) Life

"After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?"

The cosmic law of gravity
Pulled the newborns around a fire
A careless, cold infinity in every vast direction
Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone
She has a tale to tell
From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast
Enter LUCA

The tapestry of chemistry
There's a writing in the garden
Leading us to the mother of all

We are one
We are a universe
Forebears of what will be
Scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass
Writing the tale of us all
A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth

Ion channels welcoming the outside world
To the stuff of stars
Bedding the tree of a biological holy
Enter life

The tapestry of chemistry
There's a writing in the garden
Leading us to the mother of all

We are one
We are a universe
Forebears of what will be
Scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass
Writing the tale of us all
A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth

We are here to care for the garden
The wonder of birth
Of every form most beautiful
Every form most beautiful

We are one
We are a universe
Forebears in what will be
Scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass
Writing the tale of us all
A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth

3.) The Toolmaker

After a billion years
The show is still here
Not a single one of your fathers died young
The handy travelers
Out of Africa
Little Lucy of the Afar

Gave birth to fantasy
To idolatry
To self-destructive weaponry
Enter the God of gaps
Deep within the past
Atavistic dread of the hunted

Enter Ionia, the cradle of thought
The architecture of understanding
The human lust to feel so exceptional
To rule the Earth

Hunger for shiny rocks
For giant mushroom clouds
The will to do as you'd be done by
Enter history, the grand finale
Enter ratkind

Man, he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library

Man, he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library

Man, he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library

We were here!
We were here!
We were here!
We were here!

4.) The Understanding

"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.  We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?"

"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."

Sagan

Make me wonder
Make me understand
Spark the light of doubt and a newborn mind
Bring the vast unthinkable down to earth

Always wary of a captive thought
Beware the very first unkind word
See who you are, where from, what of
Entering the unknown

Sending all the poets to the stars
Daring to see beyond the manmade
Woe to you who evade the horizon
Listening to Sagan
Dreaming Carl Sagan
Unseen streams
With understanding no poet is trapped
Woe to all who stop at the horizon

What kind of world would we call home
Our own
Oasis of love, humility and hope
Eradicating all that's not for life

What kind of aim would we call high
What kind of life would bathe in the brightest white
A limitless world will rise
Son of man, dare to let go of the cowardice

Entering the unknown
Sending all the poets to the stars
Daring to see beyond the manmade
Woe to you who evade the horizon
Listening to Sagan
Dreaming Carl Sagan
Unseen streams
With understanding no poet is trapped
Woe to all who stop at the horizon

Entering the unknown
Sending all the poets to the stars
Daring to see beyond the manmade
Woe to you who evade the horizon
Listening to Sagan
Dreaming Carl Sagan
Unseen streams
With understanding no poet is trapped
Woe to all who stop at the horizon

I don't get an atheist vibe. Just a dismissal of religion used as a method of control over people.

It's about the exploitative(promoting ignorance and biggotry) structure many religious organizations have. Not religion itself.

As to God of the Gaps. That's one interpretation, but I like the clockwork god look at the same idea. A creator divised a brilliant system. And then observes. A more deist sentiment than Christian, but still far from atheist. After all, that's what Darwin felt evolution was. An insight into the methods of creation.

Duh, now I change my mind again :) 'Weak Fantasy' is "bad things in religion are bad," like you say.

The entrance of the God of the Gaps could be "enter the faux god that explains things for ignorant primitive people," which doesn't eliminate the possibility of more sophisticated gods 'entering' later. I was thinking he meant that as a stand-in for all religion, but it needn't be. Maybe there's a later unrecorded verse that goes "Enter more sophisticated religious sentiments/ Such as the Clockwork God/ As suggested by Aminar."

For some reason I wanted to pin down Tuomas's exact belief system, but he is a slippery weasel and has written something quite inclusive. Which is lovely.

I like the Helsingin Sanomat review HooPee linked to elsewhere (http://www.hs.fi/arviot/levy/a1427174378790?ref=hs-art-uusimmat-#2) which says "The album is nothing less than an attempt to build atheist mythology about the miracle of life," but like you say, the point-of-view is more inclusive than that, so maybe more a-religious.

Thanks for the text lyrics, Xarius - I didn't want to see all the booklet pictures!

If I'm not mistaken, Tuomas said that Weak Fantasy, both music and lyrics, was co-written by Marco in his interview with Linea Rock.

Carol, is there another page with the "Shudder Before The Beautiful" lyrics?

I ask because of this part:

"The music of this awe

Deep silence and the notes
Deafen me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We, the voyagers"

Beautiful artwork! This album probably contains one of the most interesting lyrics from Tuomas. The page of The Greatest Show on Earth is simply stunning.

There are actually a few instances in the album in which they slightly change a later chorus, but these aren't specified in the official lyrics.  The one you cited in SBTB is one of them.  In addition to this, these are what I've noted:

The third chorus of "Alpenglow" has the line "Roaming the endless prairie" instead of "Roaming on the endless prairie."

I believe the third chorus of TGSOE has the line "Forebears in what will be" instead of "Forebears of what will be."

Beyond this, other changes/additions I've found:

The bridge of YIAEH has the line "Yours is a dying hope," which isn't in the official lyrics.

Near the end of "My Walden," I'm pretty sure that Floor says "Forever my own," instead of "Forever build my own."

Edit: Forgot another one, which I stated earlier in the thread.  Near the end of TGSOE, I think Floor says "The will to do as you'd be done by," instead of "The will to do just as you'd be done by."

iT'S very interesting how the lyrics give even more life to the songs
For ex, The song EFMB, it was the least that "clicked" me
But after the lyrics... man, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PEACE OF WORK!

Tiktaalik
Eukaryote
Aye-Aye

I was searching for these pieces and it was like a puzzle for me.

And when I finally understood the whole thing, I was in love with the song

I personally appreciate that the official lyrics, as they often appear in the album booklets, are printed to be read as poems rather than karaoke style lyrics.
