    Within Temptation II

<bitterness> Yaay, a Germany & some of its neighbouring countries tour! Exactly what I wanted. </bitterness> Doesn't seem that expensive to me, since they're co-headlining. Anyway, hope you have an amazing time guys!

So this was posted on Instagram by both Evanescence and WT: What do you guys think? Aah exciting times.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

@NeoGeorg They've 100% changed it. Yes it had full-blown drums, not that heartbeat-like drum, and the strings and orchestra were definitely not so prominent... if they were there at all. This version is a bit bland imo.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

I'm so glad to see that the singles were actually three of the four songs in the album that are not my cup of tea. Dead Promises: Generic with whatever lyrics. I actually prefer the version without Bjorn. The "I've seen the walls..." bit still grates on me. Goodbye Stranger: It "don't" do it for me. I don't like the vocals either of them has used, and at first I couldn't even tell who is who. Tears In Rain: I really like the lyrics and it's fun and catchy, but I still feel that the music & vocals clash with the lyrics. Railroads: My favourite out of the singles, but definitely not one of my faves in general. You and I: A cheesy, lovey-dovey ballad, but so sweet & lovely. The Golden Chamber: Beautiful and dreamlike, but it would've been nicer without any lyrics at all imo - she sounds kinda whiny and out of place. Spirits of the Sea: Love its dynamic, the drumming in the beginning, the guitar and her vocals. The only (super nitpicky) thing that bothers me a bit are the lyrics: "Felt grey and cold the moment you went away from me" and "Wait for me at the edge of the sky, promise me our love won't die", when we know that the song is about the ARA San Juan tragedy and Tarja didn't have a personal relationship with any of the people that were lost (right?). Anyway, a fascinating song nonetheless. Silent Masquerade: It's grand and impressive and their voices sound wonderful together. I like the Shakespeare lines, I think they go very well with its theatrical vibe. The only thing I don't like is the weird vocal exercises she does towards the middle. Serene: Now this should've been the first single. Very nice, solid lyrics, it's catchy but interesting at the same time. Shadow Play: A heartwarming nod to the past. Storytelling-ish lyrics, choir, orchestra and piano: <3 Great: Spirits of the Sea, Silent Masquerade, Serene, Shadow Play, You and I Very nice: The Golden Chamber Meh: Dead Promises, Tears In Rain, Goodbye Stranger, Railroads This. so. much! Resonance! But also balance and consistency... She can sound either too thin, almost shrilly, or on the other side of the spectrum: too deep and close to an almost whale-like sound. Even though I like her vocals -for the most part- in the album, I can also see them turning ugly SO quickly live. I hope I'm wrong, and that the songs won't get distorted big-time when she sings them live, but.

    Anette Olzon (2º part)

Meadows of Heaven sounds so good! Ballads truly bring out the best in her voice.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

Oh, that's awful! And it was so not worth it! Does the video even have anything to do with the song? Well, at least she learned a new skill. The song's alright, it's catchy, but I agree with @Sophia the tempo/vocals clash with the lyrics. Ugh, I really hope the rest of the album's going to be better than what we've heard so far.

    Epica

Simone's vocals seem more prominent to me too, I like it. I agree, the way she's swaying while staring into our souls and lip syncing is so awkward.

    Epica

I'd rank them like this: 1. The Quantum Enigma & The Holographic Principle 2. Design Your Universe 3. The Divine Conspiracy 4. The Phantom Agony 5. Consign to Oblivion 6. Requiem for the Indifferent I really like everything on both TQE and THP. I would actually say that I became an Epica fan when TQE came out. Before that I wasn't really keeping up with them - I discovered them around the same time I got into NW (2006) and listened to some of their songs occasionally (mainly their singles), but to me they were always that NW-like band that didn't get it quite as right as NW did. But, with TQE the timing was just perfect - NW hadn't released anything in a while, and I had grown tired of Hydra by then, so I listened to TQE from start to finish, to get my symphonic metal fix. I loved it so much, I started actually going through their entire discography and found some lovely overlooked gems.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

Niiice! I'm so happy she's moved on from the "I'm not deed" and "I'm neeveer gone" stage. And the duet was so much better than last time!

Yeah it's from 2017, but the professionally shot video of the performance was uploaded just a few days ago. @NighttimeBird Right? And her face when the dancers surround her and start dancing.

@Imagineer We honestly do. Aww, I really like these throwback videos, even though the ratio of Sharon talking to video-clip fragments is not ideal.

I was expecting something like that for a while. It's great, but we need more dates. Preferably one of them in a country that starts with "Gr" and ends with "eece". Just saying.

    Zodiac signs as NW songs

@SerenaThese psycho/erotic vibes that are very Scorpio. Whoever Brings the Night is also kinda Scorpio. Yes, Ever Dream is very Cancer. Of course Ocean Soul is Pisces, we're talking about fish here.

    Zodiac signs as NW songs

TPatP IS Virgo yes. @MjöllnirVirgos can appear like they have it all together, but inside can be a mess, so the "two faces" can apply to them as well. I never cared much about astrology, but the last year or so I've been coming across some detailed posts about the elements and the signs' idiosyncrasies and when I apply them to me and the people I know, they are pretty much spot on, it's f-ing weird, but also fun. Natal charts are interesting to read, but horoscopes and predictions I still don't find accurate, they're either super vague or just wrong. About the post. Aries the fighter, agreed. Taurus' is perfect - connected to the earth, foodie, homebody. Gemini - I don't know, maybe The Riddler? Cancer - Our Decades in the Sun and I Want my Tears Back. Very emotional and family loving. Leo and Libra, yes, the larger than life signs. Virgo - yes PatO fits like a glove. Scaretale seems appropriate for Scorpio, I'd add Nymphomaniac Fantasia too. A bit dark and twisted. Sag, yes, also Last Ride of the Day. Capricorn lol, why? For Cap, and maybe Virgo too, I would put Slaying the Dreamer, Master Passion Greed and Romanticide. You know, putting all the work and being disappointed in others because they kinda suck or take advantage of them or try to tell them what to do. Aquarius - Planet Hell, The Kinslayer, Weak Fantasy, humanitarian but also full of existential dread. Pisces - Shudder Before the Beautiful & Know Why the Nightingale Sings. Dreamy & a bit weird.

    Eurovision SC 2019

That was awesome. Katerine wasn't as good as she was in the semi-final, but I agree that she still deserved better and definitely not Greece's worst position ever in an ESC final. Arcade was nice, but didn't blow my mind. My faves were: Iceland, Norway and Slovenia (Slovenia's stage presence was godawful tho). Poland and Portugal were very nice too and should've definitely qualified. I still don't understand how San Marino managed to qualify. I liked the way they announced the results this year, very unpredictable and made me snort a few times. It was interesting to see the difference between televoting and jury voting, seems that the juries are way more politically biased than the public.

@Imagineer Mine too! I was actually shocked at how good our entry is this year. Great voice and visually stunning as well. Go Greece! I haven't felt this strongly about a Greek entry since 2005.

    Game of Thrones

@Baki Right, I forgot about that. She was just too cocksure then, she was in complete denial when everything started crumbling. Idk, that seemed reasonable enough to me, she was sure that the last dragon would die too (I was kinda expecting it to die as well) and that Dany would never touch the civilians.

    Game of Thrones

That's my problem as well - the way it was done. If they had been building up to it and showed some of the madness that was lurking beneath in the previous seasons, then I would be ok with it, but she turned mad in a split second. And then we have the writers, one of them basically saying that well, she was always kinda mad and the current circumstances just brought it out... ~didn't you see how APATHETIC she was when her enemies were executed?~ (yes yes very indicative indeed) and the other saying that she got mad when she looked at the Red Keep, the symbol of everything that was taken from her, which btw I don't know if he noticed but at that moment it became entirely hers - as if that makes any sense whatsoever. I think she did plant some of these, there were definitely some green fires breaking out at places. It makes sense that she didn't think she was going to lose, after all they did kill one dragon, and she really didn't want her baby to die, so I can see why suicide didn't cross her mind. Yes, absolutely no complaint about the visual aspect of the episode. That screenwriting though.

    Game of Thrones

Well, that was... infuriatingly bad. When Jon doesn't kiss her back, she decides that she can only move forward by inspiring fear? Wtf. Yeah, if Jony boy doesn't love you then there's no love left for you in the world. The other kingdoms aren't like the North, the people there don't even know Jon Snow, but she acts as if even those people prefer him more than her. The city surrenders and instead of getting the throne she wanted all her life, she destroys it and rather than at least try to inspire people's love, she decides to kill them all in the most brutal way possible, even though all these seasons we saw her doing her best to protect the innocent, especially women and children. Honestly, her going mad is maddening. But aside from her character they also killed Jon's imo. Did he even say anything of importance this season? Because if he did, I truly didn't notice it. He just became Dany's yes-man. And what is this: he goes "ilysm" but then he can't even kiss her? Just f-ing say that you don't want to have a sexual relationship with her because she's your aunt. Say that you support her nevertheless. Like, when she told him "let it be fear then" and "people here don't love me" couldn't he say anything at all? "I believe in you, you can inspire love in these people" or "they don't even f-ing know me here, how can you say that they love me and not you?" or "if they get to know who you really are, you'll become the most loved queen ever". He just stared blankly all the time. Also, Arya should've died at least 4 times and Jaime another 3, but no, they were wearing their thick plot armour, together with Drogon. It's gotten so bad that I don't even care if they all die in the end. Ok, I need to calm down now.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

Aah what a nice performance! Consistent throughout, no weird improvisations and trying to somehow squeeze that low chest voice in places where it doesn't belong, I've missed it!

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

The song is meh, the album title is... weird to say the least, and I don't like the way she sings "I've seen the walls...", it seems that the weird voice she sometimes uses live is finally making an entrance into the studio. I do like the aesthetic of the video, though, and the photos look beautiful.

    Game of Thrones

@Imagineer I completely agree with you about Arya and the NK. I really don't understand how people are saying stuff like "the NK was such a formidable enemy, that a 14 year old girl could kill him with a stab" or "he didn't deserve to die like that". Ffs, she's been training for so many years in the most insane ways! If anyone could do it, it would be Arya. Imo that scene was just perfect. Yes it was very uncharacteristic of GoT that there were not many important deaths. I was expecting Sam (especially), Davos, Podrick, Tormund and Brienne to die. The ones that died, though (Theon, Jorah and Lyanna) died in the best way possible. And yes the wights breaking the stone tombs was kinda stupid - in the last season we saw that they easily contained one in a wooden box and carried it all the way down to King's Landing. I agree about the Dothrakis. Whyyy did they do that? I was expecting the dragons to be in the front, starting by scorching the first horde of wights to come, and then the Dothraki and Unsullied could deal with whatever managed to escape or came next. Poor baby Dothrakis.

    Game of Thrones

You're both right. To get them so far south would be pretty difficult though (they'd have to convince everyone there), but it would be easy to take over The Twins and prepare for the battle there, since Arya demolished the entirety of House Frey. They should've thought of that from the very beginning though (before Dany's armies came to Winterfell). I didn't mind Arya's sex scene at all, it did seem natural to me. She is a teenager, after all, she has experienced so much horrible stuff, she will possibly die in the near future, she's attracted to him and she wanted to have sex before she died. Seems reasonable enough to me. I agree that the dialogues were improved a lot (possibly by the change of screenwriters) and the episode was in general so much better than the first one. Also that song scene gave me those epic LotR vibes and I'm so freaking excited for what's coming next!

    Game of Thrones

Yes, but he didn't have much of a relationship with his brother either. I guess they just needed something to push him to reveal to Jon that he's the heir to the throne. I don't really remember there being a rule regarding who can ride a dragon. I thought it was more like if the dragon likes you then you can ride it, if not then bye. Maybe she thought that because she's close to Jon, the dragons will be ok with him riding them?! I'm not gonna lie, I'm slightly grateful for the sloppy screenwriting, because it makes me long for the next books so much more. Like, I don't even care if all the events will be the same (which they won't be), I NEED the books so I can get actual insight and the depth of GRRM's intricate storytelling and characterization. As you said, I'm just pleased that the visual and acting aspects are close to perfection and that I get to see how the story will end.
