    Imaginaerum World Tour 2012-2013

That recording is sounding pretty fantastic (well, the performance, not the quality). I think the highlight for me was hearing that last chorus of Dead to the World fully in tune again.

    Imaginaerum World Tour 2012-2013

Someone mentioned that they didn't do an encore earlier. According to this recent interview, they've done away with encores entirely to "make a statement." http://blogs.westwor...view.php?page=2 Edit: Also, I wasn't meaning to sound sarcastic or derisive above, merely quoting his explanation.

    Imaginaerum World Tour 2012-2013

It's tragic that Anette is ill, but kudos to the band for still pulling through with the show, even premiering a live song. I'm actually really interested to see how some of those sounded with Elise and Alyssa.

    Nightwish Off Topic

Wow I didn't even know about this project!

    Nightwish Confessions

That chord progression in that rhythm isn't so original that we can say he took it directly from Count of Monte Christo.

^I'll be there too! I'm excited to see if they throw any curveballs in the setlist for US leg, and what kinds of stage effects they'll use to make up for the expensive pyro.

    The Old Era

I've been on an old video binge lately (happens pretty often actually) and came across some really great shows, like where Nightwish played some of their rarer songs, played more covers, or had guest artists etc. I figured we needed a place to discuss live shows in general (their old techniques or songs you wish they'd bring back) or specific shows that occurred long ago. In particular, right now I'm curious how many times they played Beauty of the Beast live, YouTube can only find two shows. I freakin' love that song and their live performances of it were perfect. Anybody here who's been a fan longer than me and presumably lives in Europe ever get to see it?

    The Emppu thread

It's been forever since I've watched their old covers, I forgot how much Emppu used to do live, Jesus that was awesome!
  9. champioz

Anette Olsson I know this one got some conflicting feedback on the video's page, but I always loved this performance of Sleeping Sun. It really moved me the first time I heard it.

    Nightwish Off Topic

Simply beautiful, Night*star! I couldn't stop laughing at the first one. Ok so I discovered my new favorite site today. asks you what artist you're listening to, then tells you what to drink with it. Nightwish's: 2 oz. LSD 2 oz. Milk 8 oz. Cachaça Brilliant.

    Nightwish Confessions

Confession - there isn't a single song by Nightwish that I dislike to any degree, but relative to the rest of their work I find Eva, Kinslayer, Whoever Brings the Night, and the album version of Phantom OF the Opera to be the most skippable (and most skipped). Confession - I don't like the song I discovered them with nearly as much as I did when I first heard it and binge listened for weeks (Beauty and the Beast). Confession - I attribute a certain small portion of my love for this band to the fact that my now-ex girlfriend hated them at the time we were together (even though I adored the band and had I believe 4 of their albums before this point). We didn't break up because she hated Nightwish, don't worry; I'm not that obsessed *yet*

    Anette Olsson

I think they've been getting into the swing of things, Anette had a lot better stage presence in Ukraine and Russia than she did in US and Finland. I hope they continue to escalate, because I think no matter how good a band's light/pyro show is or how well they perform the music, a strong stage presence and ability to engage the crowd is just as much the duty of a skilled performer.

    The Old Era

I'm with ya, honest to God this is my favorite song by them besides Ocean Soul.

^I made an edit where the poem is replaced by Mother and Father from TPATP, the two go quite well together.
