    Within Temptation II

I don't know what to think about this album to be honest. WT has been one of my go-to bands since I was a teenager and I even liked Hydra a lot, but listening to those snippets got me very disappointed. All songs have the same atmosphere and does not differ a lot in melody or structure (so far at least). Vocal melodies does not sound any challenging and I get a feeling of an average pop-album camouflaged with guitars. Will give it some spins when it's out though before making any more judgments.

Good point, the confidence part made me realize the word I was looking for - 'friendship'. Their friendship was blooming and so visible during the Decades tour. They were happy and confident, and it showed during the show and their performance.

Got my (signed! ) version of the "We were here" book in the mail today. Can't wait to read it tonight! Just had a quick look through it and the book is quite thick, so seems that there's a lot of content here, not mainly pictures (as I thought it would be)

    Decades World Tour 2018

I don't get the constant complains about them being stiff on stage. Have you guys actually attended a concert and seen that yourself? When I saw them in Gothenburg in November the band was very energic and interactive. I was at the front row and they fooled with us all the time (making faces, pointing, arm gestures, smiling etc). In all the heavy songs there were headbanging from Tuomas, Marco and Floor. They also did a lot of interaction with each other during the whole gig. (Floor and Emppu for example, they seems to like each other a lot on stage. Same with Marco and Troy). It's a very fun show, not the type of constant-headbanging-metal-show that you expect from the metal scene in general, but a fun and mature show which showcases skillful musicianship, storytelling and beauty of music. Point is, I think they adjust their performance, movements and interactions based on the song's mood, message and story, which makes sense to me. A lot of you who criticize seems to just base it on that it does not fit your ideal metal show, while the band's audience seems to be overall very happy.

    Beyond the Black

Hi guys! Just discovered this amazing band so I thought I should make a thread for them here. Beyond the Black is a newly formed symphonic power metal band from Germany. After a successful live debut at Wacken Open Air and Hamburg Metal Dayz last year they started touring UK along with Saxon and have now given out their debut album, Songs of Love and Death, two weeks ago (13.02.15). http://www.beyondtheblack.de/ Here are some live videos from their Wacken show: Their singer Jenny has a very similar voice to Sharon with a bit of depths (almost the Shania Twain of metal to my ears ) and their melodies/lyrics are quite lovely. What do you guys think? Should mention that the whole album is available on Spotify.

I've noticed this too and I have to agree that the Anette-era has slowly vanished from people's mind, myself included. It's sad since when thinking about it her contributions made a big impact on the band's career and where they are today. DPP was the first album that made them play big stadiums in Europe, and Amaranth has 100 million views on YT (BBB has 50, Islander has 20, almost 170 + million in total for DPP). Who knows what would had happen if her years haden't take place and they had Floor right after Tarja. Floor has a undeniable talent for sure, but I think her popularity got boosted even more since she replaced Anette and not Tarja. Also, most of the songs from the band that I regularly listen to is from her two albums even if her presence as the lead vocalist is gone from my mind. I'm happy that we have Floor now and would not change her for anyone, but Anette deserves to be recognized more for what she did for the band even if her attitude and live singing wasn't the greatest.

Maybe EOAH just ins’t that fun to play compared to DCOW? It is a very basic song after all. They need to have fun as well to deliver a great show

Looks like Amaranth was replaced by Last Ride of the Day yesterday :) https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/nightwish/2018/lotto-arena-merksem-belgium-1b965148.html

A good change would be to keep Dark Chest as an opener and switch out Wish I Had an Angel for End of All Hope. EOAE had it's place as the second song during the Century Child tour, so would be nice callback :)

    Decades World Tour 2018

Just got back to my hotel! A few summary points that comes to mind: - I cried so much, especially during Gethsemane, DBP and Ghost Love Score. I felt like I was 14 again. - No Deep Silent Conplete, which I was looking forward to the most - Amazing pyro show! - Gethsemane, Sacrament, The Carpenter, The Kinslayer and Devil were my absolute highlights of the show. All works amazingly well in a live setting. - Emppu is a very funny guy. We had a moment were he teased me with his pick, almost throwed it but quickly put it back in his fingers and made a funny face. Love him - The crowd was lame! You could feel it in the atmosphere. Beast in Black tried really hard to get us going. Steped up a little when Nightwish came on, but in generel Scandinavians needs to increase their energy in live shows. I feel for the artists - The girl next to me COULD NOT STOP TALKING during half the set. Just please, shut up. If you’re at a concert, enjoy the show or go somewhere else to do your jibberjabber and don’t destroy the experience for others around yoy Good night!

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

Great video! Love watching these kind of reactions However, I find it a tiny bit ironic to watch her give (constructive) criticism to the ones who did Nemo when she never has been able to do a great job with that song herself, except the studio version.

    Seventh Wonder

Beyond Today almost brought me to tears. I just love Tommy's voice! And "The Truth" has kinda of an African inspired sound to it, loved that too.

They replaced End of all Hope with Dark Chest of Wonders. Which is a bummer, imo.

I think I have to put seeing Nightwish in Argentina at my bucketlist. The energy is just insane! Would probably cry during the whole show because of the enthusiasm in the people around me.

Really weird hearing her sing like this, but it's cool I like it! Straight up rock'n'roll!

I don't get the hate for The Carpenter. I find myself humming to it every now and then. Looking forward to hear it live in November. Also, it make sense to keep it as it's the first ever single and it's a chance for Troy to be in the spotlight.

    Tarja Turunen pt. III

I remember back in the days when I was younger and listened to Nightwish a lot on speakers in my room (around the Once/End of an Era times). My mother always commented on why I loved this woman so much when she sings so out of tune and falsely all the time. I may have been blinded by my fanboyism at that time, but listening to that "Die Alive" video I start to realize that my mother had a pretty good point. Should also point out that my mother has always loved darker type voices, ex. Beth Hart, Tina Turner and many soul artists, but never ever heard anything good in Tarja. Regarding the rest of the video, it looks great and the performance itself is awesome. I just wish someone, like you all have said, would tell her that this type of vocals does not work for her.

    Decades World Tour 2018

Such a shame all the good stuff was left out knowing what this tour's setlist include in their regular shows. But at least we'll have a pro-shot of Gethsemane, Devil and Slaying the Dreamer now
