  1. Guys, the show in Charlotte last night was AMAZING. They played a LOT of different stuff than we were expecting, and I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that it was the first time they actually played a show in NC. During the show Marco said that they had had trouble getting here during the last two tours and they played stuff we weren't expecting at all. 7 Days to the Wolves was perfect. She had trouble remembering the lyrics during Dark Chest of Wonders, but who doesn't mess up from time to time??? I am VERY happy with the performance, and considering it was the first time I've seen them live I have fallen in love with them all over again. I think it's safe to say that they'll be back to Charlotte when they come through the USA again. And both Delain and Sabaton were great - we sang happy birthday to Charlotte from Delain too since it was her birthday. Oh! And not to mention that I was only 4 or 5 bodies away from the stage that made it a great night. For the record, Amaranth is KILLER live.
  2. Oh, hello there! It's been a LONG time since I was last active on this forum ( as I sort of forgot it existed...) but I'm back now, and I decided I should re-introduce myself. For those of you who knew me, and to those of you who don't know me, I'm Mattie! I'm at University right now, just finishing up my first year as I type this. I'm studying Choral Music Education for my major, and my minor is English. I'm a very friendly person and I get along with just about anyone I plan to be a bit more active now on the forum, especially since Nightwish is going to be doing a show in the city beside mine in May But anyway, that's me
  3. So I sort of disappeared off of the forum for a while, but I'm back (kinda) and I was wondering if anyone is planning on going to the Charlotte, NC show in May? Luckily enough for me, I live in the city just beside Charlotte, and tickets were only $40. Anywho, I hope to see some of you!
  4. Currently in the process of reading: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare The Tempest by Shakespeare Will be reading: The Hobbit - So go ahead and yell at me for being an uncultured swine. I've never read ANY of the LOTR books, but I'm starting them
  5. OMG I'm the exact same way with Anna Karenina. I'm just so utterly bored with it
  6. I don't know if it's just me, but all of the books that I've had to read since I started high school has put me off from reading... I think it's because they've been required reads and there are so many things attached to reading the book that I've just become very bored with it and have very little motivation to read... this makes me sad because I used to love it so much, but now I'm just kind of irritated. I'm posting the list of stuff I had to read for English 11 and what I'm on now for English 12. English 11 AP List: If I'm being perfectly honest, the only two out of the entire list that I had to read for that class was the final two. In fact, my class went after taking our AP Exam to go see the movie for Gatsby.... For each book I had to take copious notes as well as character descriptions, write a summary essay, and then produce ten discussion questions for class. It was awful... English 12 AP: Now the first two have restored somewhat my love of reading, as they weren't completely terrible books. In fact, they were both lovely. The only work I had for these three were the Major Works Data Sheet (MWDS) which is essentially the notes I had to take for English 11 and consolidated into a easily followed template, write a paper about questions that the book raises (more like big issue questions), and then come up with the discussion questions for class. To be perfectly honest, Frankenstein made me sad. Seriously. The Creation (as I hate to think of him as a fiend or monster) is a lot like me - an outcast that isn't understood. I'm about to embark on Anna Karenina, which if Gargoyles_path's post tells me anything, I'm in for another slow read. I have had absolutely no time for pleasure reading this summer. If I do, I plan to get into Game of Thrones (which I think I might have mentioned here once already), but I wasn't able to start because of the work for English last year.... wish me luck?
  7. I just updated the information about the band as well as went into more depth about albums and films.
  8. Oh. My. God. If Viserys doesn't shut his mouth, I'm going to end him. "Now, you have woken the dragon." ? Puh-lease! Could you get any lamer? Also, I feel bad for Bran.. Poor child. Although I think he's being too bitter over the thing. Also, Joffrey is SUCH a wuss. Come on now. And I quite like Arya. She's just trying to be herself in a time that she's expected to be... well, too much like Sansa, which obviously she's not. Also, poor Sansa. I felt so badly for her when Lady had to be killed  I think that perhaps George might have had separation anxiety when writing this. So much sadness already, and I'm only on page 250.
  9. Personally, I loved the Hunger Games trilogy. I own all three books now. But I have to agree that the author could have done MUCH better in terms of development - sure there are times when we see the characters change a teensy bit (i.e. Katniss' random anger outbursts that suddenly stop and make her back to normal (mood swings?) are a bit interesting), but they kind of remind me of the basics of the main characters of Harry Potter in the 3rd through the fifth books. Completely predictable. On the other hand, the story line is well developed and the overall ideas for it are wonderful - even if there is an underlying description of overthrowing the government. The movie was... meh. Jennifer Lawrence did a wonderful job protraying Katniss, and I loved Josh Hutcherson as Peeta - not to mention that they were very good on the special effects/design department. Book - 7/10 I think.
  10. It's hard to realize I'm reading a book as old as I am
  11. So... Bran's chapter's already irritate me and I've only read two of his -_- on the other hand, Tyrion amuses me I've already committed my first late night reading under the sheets with a flash light - my parent's have a light's out at 10 rule T_T - so it's safe to say I really truly like this book
  12. I think I'll show my disgraced face by saying I just started reading Game of Thrones, and I'm completely and utterly upset with myself for not picking it up sooner.
  13. The only possible winner: Congrats Tewma! I have decided that due to lack of participation, I am discontinuing the competition.
  14. I just picked up Game of Thrones for the first time yesterday
  15. Thanks for the lovely parody!
