    The Marco thread

Another thing to watch out for is if Marco's name is listed as "Marko" in the production of the next Nightwish album.

    The Marco thread

I'm guessing he'll use the spelling "Marko" for the purpose of his name as a solo artist, compared to the usual spelling of "Marco" used in the context of a Nightwish band member.

I also didn't like Hydra either. The album had only 3 good songs - Paradise (What About Us?), Let Us Burn, and Dangerous. Hydra's problem is that the album was far less symphonic than the earlier albums. They had already started scaling down the symphonic elements beginning with "The Unforgiving" and Hydra scaled that down even farther. The biggest highlight of Hydra was the song featuring Tarja as a guest, and it happens to be the most symphonic song on the album. Resist still doesn't compare to the earlier albums in the amount of symphonic elements used in the album, but it is slightly more symphonic than Hydra was. Resist is a much better album than Hydra. There's already 5 songs from Resist that I currently like - The Reckoning, Raise Your Banner, Supernova, Mad World, and Trophy Hunter

    The Upcoming Nightwish Album

I saw this article posted on one Nightwish Facebook page that I visit on a regular basis: https://www.loudersound.com/news/nightwish-have-written-up-to-90-of-new-album It's a few days old at this point and I'm surprised no one here has even posted the article yet. It gives me at least a small amount of hope that the next album could be released before the end of 2019, but it will probably end up being a 2020 release instead.
  5. Celtic Nemo... That's the first time I've ever heard that comparison to Nemo. I don't really agree with this comparison. The reason being that Nemo is a rather dark melancholic song, which I don't get that same feeling from Élan. Instead, Élan is more of a cheery, upbeat song. That is one area where the 2 songs differ from each other. An obscure/underrated song that I love is Sleepwalker, but I didn't have any hope that it would make the album since it's a bonus track.
  6. Nice tracklist, although I was disappointed at the lack of some of my favorites. I totally approve of 10th Man Down, The Kinslayer, and Elvenpath being on the album. My biggest disappointment was no Ever Dream, which is my number one Nightwish song. However, it does have Nemo which is my number two Nightwish song. Only one song from my Nightwish top five is even on this album. The other four in my top five being Ever Dream, Come Cover Me, Escapist, and Bless the Child. As of now, we're not sure if the album will have the original vocals or if they will have re-recorded vocals by Floor. I'm kind of hoping for Floor's vocals here.

BotB actually has been played live before, but only during the CC Tour. The last time it's been played was September 7th, 2003. I think Nightwish missed out on an opportunity to play the 2001 version of "Astral Romance" live during their 2016 North American leg of the EFMB Tour where Sonata Arctica was one of the supporting artists (along with Delain). The 2001 version has never been played live (only the 1997 version). It wouldn't have been too difficult to have Tony Kakko come out on stage for one song to perform the vocal parts of "Astral Romance", plus he did the male vocal part of the 2001 version.

Happy New Year fellow Nightwish fans! Let's hope 2018 brings us some good Nightwish moments with the Decades World Tour and the Decades album coming out. As we enter the New Year, I realized we don't even have any info on the tracklist for the Decades album and that's going to be released in slightly over 2 months from now. We probably get that info sometime this month, since I expect that pre-orders on the album will also begin around the same time as the tracklist reveal. What I'm expecting from the Decades album is a compilation album, but with older songs re-recorded using Floor's vocals instead. It sure would be nice to have actual studio recordings of older songs with Floor's vocals that aren't live performances.

Late 2019 is my estimate here (October, November, or December). If the work on the next album starts at the start of 2018 (with Tuomas working on writing songs), I could see him having enough material to get the rest of the band together in late 2018 to begin working on recording early music samples. From there, they should be able to get into the studio by mid 2019 to record vocals and other instruments, and also work with Pip Williams for the orchestral arrangements. This seems like the path that I think they will take to get an album produced on schedule for a late 2019 release.

I wasn't even aware that Edenbridge put out a new album recently until I checked Wikipedia earlier. I guess I'll have to go listen to the album soon, since I don't have much to listen to during my long wait for the next Nightwish album.

Me too. I'm already struggling with Nightwish withdrawal as I wait for the next album to come out. This could be a long wait, as the next album probably won't be released in 2018.

    The Upcoming Nightwish Album

I'm not sure about 2019. These articles suggest a new album could possibly arrive in 2018: http://teamrock.com/news/2016-04-29/nightwish-future-planned-out-says-tuomas-holopainen http://teamrock.com/news/2016-11-07/next-nightwish-album-to-continue-endless-forms-themes If it does arrive in 2018, it will almost definitely be near the end of the year. I'm really hoping for a 2018 release, but that might not happen if the band takes a break during the entire 2017 year and then expect them to produce an entire album during 2018 for a release near the end of the year.
  13. I'm okay with this, as long as the next album also has some unique songs that are different from what appeared on EFMB. In the meantime, with the EFMB tour completed, it's going to be a very long hangover phase waiting for the next album to be released.

Ask Marco [CLOSED] - please read first post

Hello Marco! Shortly after the 3 minute mark in the song Planet Hell, the song lyric "Welcome now to my Planet Hell" shows up in the song. This song lyric is not listed on the Nightwish website. Whoever did the vocals for this song lyric, it does not sound like your singing voice. Perhaps you might know who did the vocals for this specific lyric?

    Ask Troy [CLOSED]

Nightwish lyrics are usually written by Tuomas, but if you were given an opportunity to submit some lyrics to Tuomas for a potential song, would you be interested in submitting lyrics to him? What kind of themes could we expect your lyrics to touch upon?
